Fishing


The River Tyne is widely considered to be England 's finest salmon river. The Tyne Angling Passport is a not-for-profit scheme designed to open up new or currently inaccessible areas of river for day-ticket fishing.

Fish Tyne provides all you need to know about freshwater angling in the Tyne catchments.

There are also great opportunities for fly fishing in the wonderful surroundings of Kielder Water and Forest Park or on Derwent Reservoir.

Beginners can take advantage of the Learn to Fish days at Derwent Reservoir (12 miles from Hexham).

Langley Dam Fishery (8 miles from Hexham) offers five boats available for hire and ample opportunities for fly fishing from the banks or wading.
